A slippery enigma–the eel–swims across history, traversing oceans, streams, and cultures. From harvesters of juvenile eels in Maine to Asian aquaculture operators, from Japanese unagi experts to scientists on both sides of the Pacific, the elversphere surfaces a web of relations to offer unexpected perspectives on ecological and societal crises.
